Odisha: Incessant rainfall triggered flood-like situation in several parts of Subarnapur, Keonjhar

In Odisha, incessant rainfall has triggered flood-like situations in several parts of Subarnapur and Keonjhar. Many places in the two districts have been cut-off due to water-logging and submersion of roads. The residents of Birmaharajpur area in Subarnapur have been severely affected as flood water has entered many low-lying villages. Bhubaneswar and neighbouring Cuttack are also experiencing heavy rainfall today.
 
India Meteorological Department (IMD) warned of heavy rain in the next 48 hours as a well-marked low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal intensified into a deep depression. It is likely to weaken into a depression in the subsequent 24 hours. A red alert has been issued in Sunderagarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh and Sambalpur for today.
 
An orange alert has been issued for 13 districts and a yellow alert for 10 districts. A holiday has been declared in all government and private schools in Keonjhar, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Subarnapur, Sambalpur, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Boudh, Nayagarh, Balasore and Nuapada today.
